Who are you?
Fortylove.tv is Adrianna Tan and May Yee, originally from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur respectively. We lived in Dubai and London for some time. Now we’re back in Southeast Asia, but still travelling madly.
What equipment do you use on Fortylove?
A bunch of Sanyo Xactis. Several Creative Vado HDs. A JVC Everio. Two MacBooks. iMovie and Final Cut Pro. A customized Wordpress theme. A lot of elbow grease, three cups of love.
Why do you travel so much?
Because we love to. Because we’re lucky enough to be working in jobs that let us do so. (Travelling is also sometimes cheaper than simply inhaling in either Dubai or London!). When we’re not travelling on the job, we’re hawk-eyed veterans on budget airlines’ websites, obsessing over where to go the coming weekend, even if they’re random locations we’ve never heard of — as long as it doesn’t cost us more than a few pints of beer.
Who pays for this travel?
Contrary to popular belief, writing/photographing and talking/emailing is not a lucrative business. We travel budget with our last few dollars, live on our friends’ couches, or book ourselves into accommodation sans room service. In other words, we pay our way through. If you’ve enjoyed exploring the world through fortylove.tv and our various exploits, you can pick up some fortylove.tv pseudo-merchandise from our Zazzle store (we don’t make much from it, but it’s fun) — or — you can buy us a beer the next time we’re in your town.
